Hello,

 

I am excited to announce I am seeking re-election for the DeSoto, Texas City Council, Place 4 seat.  I’m starting my campaign by reaching out to you, my friends, and community leaders, to ask for your endorsement, financial support, and volunteer effort.

 

I am running for re-election because I am passionate about DeSoto, can envision its growth, and am excited about its future.

 

As a DeSoto property owner for over 23 years, a business professional, parent, and pastor, there are many things that bring concern as time moves forward. Can home values increase while keeping taxes down? Can businesses relocate to or even expand in DeSoto and be successful? Can DeSoto continue to provide quality educational opportunities needed for our children? Are the residents in our communities safe, treated fairly, and have opportunities for greater quality of life?  

 

The answer to all these questions is a resounding YES!  However, this takes focused, dedicated, and selfless officials into office.

 

As the current Mayor Pro Tem, I am standing up for those things that matter most for DeSoto.  Some of these are, voting for the reduction of the city property tax rate, voting to offer incentives for businesses to reinvest and grow here instead of moving, and voting for a $1,000,000 grant for a tutoring program benefitting all DeSoto students. I supported the implementation of the Shotspotter system that identifies where gunshots are coming from, thus protecting our policemen and citizens.  I also voted for grants that help homeowners make necessary repairs to keep property values up. Finally, I supported competitive compensation for police, firefighters, and city staff to attract and retain the best candidates and provide these key services to our community. 

 

I have worked in the private sector, forging partnerships between businesses.  I have the experience to protect our valuable taxpayer dollars to ensure every dollar is spent where it is needed most in our city.  I know the value of our city and believe our council decisions should support our residents and provide the resources necessary to meet the needs of our city.  The residents of DeSoto know what they desire and need, which is why listening to the voice of the community is important to build a strong foundation for growth in our city.

 

I would love the opportunity to continue working on your behalf.  The simple truth is that I can identify with you because I am part of this community; a property owner, business owner, parent, and caregiver for my mother. 

 

DeSoto is the place where hard-working, success-driven, people live.  As a longtime resident, I am a leader that understands the needs of our city and how business affects our quality of life. I have a vision of what it takes for the city to flourish.
